Even Modest Fitness Extends Life

October 8, 2009

A study of nearly 4,400 healthy adults found that the 20% with the lowest physical fitness level were twice as likely to die over the next 9 years as the 20% with the next lowest fitness levels. This study supports the fact that even mild to moderate physical activity can significantly extend length of life. Intentional daily physical exercise, even though not vigorous or long-lasting, will save lives. (Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, August 2009).
